In April, the Department of Labor (DOL) issued its final rule to increase the salary threshold for exempt employees under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The final rule established a graduated increase to the salary threshold, with the first increase going into effect on July 1st. The salary level for exempt employees is set to increase from $35,568 annually ($684 per week) to $43,888 ($844 per week) on July 1st and $58,565 ($1,128 per week) on January 1st. The final rule also provides for more regular increases.
