ETHICS AND WORKPLACE VIOLENCE: A BALANCE

ETHICS AND WORKPLACE VIOLENCE: A BALANCE

Motivation is the underlying drive of individuals to accomplish tasks and goals, but the question is, how do you get your employees motivated? There are many factors that can influence employee motivation including the organization’s internal structure, the integrity of your company’s operations, and the company culture as a whole.

In the workplace, it is integral to motivate employees so that they meet their full potential, putting them in a position that makes them want to do their jobs, a job they are passionate about.

Whether you’re a manager or a new hire finishing their first week on the job, motivation is a vital element that can help retain good employees and let them reach their full potential as a prized and trusted worker.

The integrity of organizational operations is a defining factor that influences motivation. Company culture also plays a huge role in encouraging employees and management. Ethical behavior in the workplace has positive effects on employee morale, employee commitment to the organization, and overall company credibility.

Leaders who go above and beyond a normal “boss” or managerial role inspire employees to adopt the company’s mission and goals as their own, aiding their new employers in establishing more favorable job attitudes and higher productivity.

They also encourage good behavior through proper planning and project execution. Without planning and collaboration, employees may cut corners; something no leader wants.

We at NAE believe that ethical leaders provide model behavior.

When they do not, tensions amongst employees and the employer can rise, causing what no business or organization wants to deal with, workplace violence. At the Nevada Association of Employers, we know what goes into making a company run more efficiently.

Being transparent with employees and letting them know the truth about company operations, will ensure that both the employee and employer know what is expected of them to get the job done.

Workplace violence is any physical assault, threatening behavior, or verbal abuse occurring in the work setting. A workplace can be defined as any location either permanent or temporary where an employee performs any work-related duty.

Put yourself and your business in the best possible position to prevent and manage workplace violence incidents. Remember – safety first.

Here at NAE we provide HR services, government relations services, employment law consulting, training, and surveys. This helps you hone your skills as a business and manager, stay up to date, navigate legal matters, and provide you the tools you need to stay relevant and compliant. Be the best employer possible with our tools to help you attract and retain employees.
