The Art & Skill of Workplace Communication

Presented by: Amy Matthews, SPHR

Effective communication is the cornerstone of a thriving workplace. It’s more than just exchanging information; it’s the successful conveying and sharing of ideas and feelings, leading to better understanding, stronger collaboration, and a more productive environment. Like any valuable asset, communication is a skill that requires continuous development and practice. We will explore strategies and techniques for better communication, including attentive listening, managing expectations when communicating, and how to have difficult conversations — something HR professionals know a thing or two about.

Employment in Nevada: Legal Landscape 2025

Presented by: Shay Digenan, Esq.

Staying up to date with the latest changes in the law is an important but daunting task. The goal of this session is to provide you with an overview of the latest changes to state and federal employment laws to ensure your business remains compliant. During this session, Shay Digenan will provide a detailed overview of all workplace-related laws passed during the 2025 Nevada Legislative Session, as well as what was vetoed. She will also provide an update regarding changes in enforcement priorities with the federal regulatory agencies (i.e. DOL, EEOC, etc.), and how the changing federal landscape interacts with state law. Get the latest legal insights to ensure your business is prepared for what lies ahead.

Cultivating Healthy Intergenerational Teams: How to Lead from the Middle

Presented by: Tim Dean, Coaching Dean LLC

Many companies have up to four generations in the workplace. This can create its own set of issues in how we work together. During this session, we will explore this generational mix and how to harness common ground to reduce conflict and promote collaboration. We will:

  • Learn the characteristics, values, and influences of the working generations: Baby Boomer, Gen X, Millennials (Gen Y) & Gen Z
  • Confront stereotypes for each generation by exploring and capitalizing on each generation’s unique experiences, strengths, and perceptions
  • Identify the pros and cons of personality labels and individual learning styles
  • Learn to improve every interaction via effective cross-generational communication skills
  • Discuss management strategies to address generational conflicts and how to cultivate healthy intergenerational teams

Tim Dean’s energetic, thought-provoking, and interactive presentation will show you how to manage up, down, and across generations in the workplace.

Don’t miss this opportunity to gain the knowledge and tools necessary to effectively mitigate risks and cultivate a positive and productive work environment.
